Cirque du Soleil – Corteo

Cirque du Soleil – Corteo is a touring circus show created by Cirque du Soleil. The show premiered on April 21, 2005, in Montreal, Canada. Corteo, which means “cortège” in Italian, is a procession, parade, or cortege, particularly one for a funeral or wedding.

The show was designed to be a tribute to the company’s founder, Guy Laliberté, and to the art of the circus. It was the first Cirque show to be directed by a woman, Joanne Baillargeon.

The story of Corteo is narrated by a character called The Clown, who dreams that he is attending his own funeral. The Clown imagines a festive parade in his honor, in which he is both participant and observer. He sees a world in which the living and the dead coexist and interact.

The Clown’s journey takes him through a series of tableaux, or scenes, in which he encounters a variety of characters, both real and imaginary. These include acrobats, clowns, angels, devils, and stilt-walkers. The Clown’s interactions with these characters allow him to come to terms with his own
